Bath and blow dry
Need a clean coat but not a new haircut? A bath and blow dry at Spunky Cuts is a wash and a thorough dry for your cat or dog, with no change to their style.
Is this the right visit?
When a wash is what you need
Pet owners usually ask for a bath and blow dry when they say things like these:
- "She smells doggy again, even though her haircut still looks fine."
- "He rolled in something outside, and I can't face bathing him in our tub."
- "His coat looks dull and greasy, and I'd like it soft again."
- "We're between haircuts, and I just want a freshen-up."
If the length of the coat is fine and the problem is dirt, smell or a flat, oily look, this is often the right visit. If you also want the coat shortened or shaped, a full-service groom is usually a better fit.
Compare the options
A bath and blow dry, or something more?
The services on the grooming menu are listed separately, so you can choose the care your pet actually needs. Here's how this visit compares with the other options.
Bath and blow dry
A wash and a dry. Choose this when the coat needs cleaning and your pet's current length and style can stay as they are.
Full-service grooming
A pre-groom consultation, bath, blow dry, brush out, ear cleaning, nail trim and haircut. Choose this when you want a clean coat and a new shape in one appointment.
Focused add-ons
Deshedding, nail trimming and grinding and pad and face trimming are also available. If you'd like any of these alongside a bath, ask when you book.
Good to know
Why coat type affects drying
Drying matters as much as washing. A coat left damp near the skin can stay heavy, smell musty and be uncomfortable for your pet. How long drying takes depends mostly on the coat.
Double coats
Breeds with a dense undercoat hold a lot of water close to the skin. Drying them takes longer, and some loose undercoat often comes out at the same time. If shedding is your main concern, ask whether deshedding would help too.
Curly and long coats
Curly and long coats can tangle when wet. If brushing already catches in places, say so when you book. Bathing a matted coat can make the mats tighter.
Cats
Spunky Cuts grooms cats as well as dogs. Many cats aren't used to water or the sound of a dryer, so tell the shop how your cat usually reacts to handling.

Useful details to share
Booking is done by hand, so a little information early on helps the shop plan the right appointment. Have these details ready when you call, or add them to a callback request:
- Whether your pet is a cat or a dog, plus their breed or mix and rough size.
- Their coat type, and any tangles or mats you've noticed.
- Any skin sensitivities, or products that have caused problems before.
- How your pet copes with water, dryers and being handled.
- When they were last bathed or groomed, and whether you're also thinking about nail care or other tidy-ups.
Use the same call to ask about price, how long the visit will take and when to collect your pet.
At home
Keeping the coat fresh between visits
These general tips can help a clean coat stay clean for longer:
- Brush regularly with a brush that suits the coat. This spreads natural oils and catches loose hair before it builds up.
- Wipe muddy paws and legs with a damp cloth so dirt doesn't spread through the coat.
- Wash bedding often, because a clean pet on a dirty bed soon smells like the bed.
- Don't bathe too often with harsh household products. They can dry out the skin.
Itching, redness, flaky skin or a smell that keeps coming back can be signs of a skin problem. Speak to your veterinarian, because a bath is grooming care, not treatment.

What isn't offered
Spunky Cuts doesn't offer flea and tick treatments, and only grooms cats and dogs. If you see fleas or ticks, ask your veterinarian about treatment first, then contact the shop before booking.
Every visit is by appointment. Call to book, or send a callback request through the contact form. A request starts the conversation but doesn't confirm a time. Your appointment is set once you've agreed it with the shop.
