Pre-groom consultation
A conversation before any grooming starts. It's the moment to describe the length and look you'd like, your pet's handling quirks and anything on the skin or coat that concerns you.
Full-service grooming · Mesa, AZ
Full-service grooming at Spunky Cuts brings everything together in one appointment for your cat or dog: a pre-groom consultation, bath, blow dry, brush out, ear cleaning, nail trim and haircut.
What's included
Each part of a full groom handles a different job. Together they leave the coat clean, dry and shaped, with ears and nails looked after too.
A conversation before any grooming starts. It's the moment to describe the length and look you'd like, your pet's handling quirks and anything on the skin or coat that concerns you.
Washing lifts dirt, oil and odor out of the coat and off the skin, and gives the haircut a clean starting point. Clippers and scissors work more evenly through clean hair.
Drying straightens and separates the hair so the coat can be brushed thoroughly and cut evenly. A coat left damp underneath can feel heavy and hold onto smells.
Brushing works through the dried coat to remove loose hair and reveal tangles, so the haircut follows the true shape of the coat rather than its clumps.
A routine tidy of the outer ear as part of the visit. This is grooming care, not treatment; redness, swelling, discharge or a strong smell are reasons to see a veterinarian.
Overgrown nails can click on hard floors and change how a pet stands. A trim shortens them as part of the same appointment, so there's no separate visit for paws.
The finishing step that changes the length and shape of the coat, guided by what you discussed at the consultation and what your pet's coat can realistically hold.
Sound familiar?
Most owners don't arrive with grooming terms. They arrive with everyday frustrations like these:
If more than one of these applies, a full groom covers them in a single visit instead of piecing together separate services.
Picture the appointment
Groomers generally work in an order that lets each step help the next. As a general guide, a full groom tends to move like this:
Ask about arrival time, pickup arrangements and expected visit length when you book, as these depend on your pet and the day's schedule.
Choosing the right service
Choose a full groom when you want the coat cleaned and reshaped. If the length is fine and the coat just needs freshening, a bath and blow dry may be enough.
For one specific concern between full grooms, look at deshedding for loose hair, sanitary trims for hygiene areas, pad and face trimming for paws and eyes, or nail trimming and grinding on its own.
Not sure? Describe what's bothering you when you call and ask which option fits. The full list sits on the services page.
